4 DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY CARERS' STRATEGY 2012-2017 ANNUAL REPORT - REPORT BY INTERIM CHIEF SOCIAL WORK OFFICER

Decision

 

7.1  SCRUTINISED the performance of the End of Year position for 2012-13 through discussion and Officer responses;

 

AGREED

 

7.2  to receive further updates on the progress of the Strategy through an annual to the Board, noting that any exception reports would be received when performance not on target through regular updates on the integration process; and

 

7.3  the priorities for 2013-14, noting that these may require to be revisited should there be any resource implications in taking them forward:

 

Equalities - To increase the identification of ‘hidden’ Carers 

Information and advice - To develop an accessible Carers’ Information Directory and work with black and minority ethnic groups to develop Carer-specific information to these groups 

Respite - To ensure that Carers have access to respite that meets their needs as well as the cared-for person 

Training for Carers - To identify training needs for Carers and develop links to training opportunities to meet identified needs 

Carer Advocacy - To continue to develop and promote Carer Advocacy in Dumfries and Galloway 

Young Adult Carers - To create good transitions toward fulfilled adult lives for all Young Carers 

 

 
5 PUTTING YOU FIRST UPDATE - REPORT BY DIRECTOR OF PLANNING/HEAD OF JOINT STRATEGIC PLANNING, COMMISSIONING AND PERFORMANCE

NOTED

 

5.1 the recent structural changes resulting a merger of the current workstreams as follows:

Supporting People at Home and Building Community Resilience into a new single Workstream ‘Supporting People in their Communities.’
Developing Effective Efficient Pathways and Seamless Care to become ‘Seamless Pathways of Care’.
Keeping People Safe and Forward Looking Care to become ‘Preventative Approaches to Care’;


5.2 the positive feedback from individuals and staff who have participated in tests of change as outlined in Appendix 2 to the report;


5.3 the wide range of work that is being tested in the Putting You First Programme as outlined in Appendix 3 to the report; and


5.4 THANKED the Programme Manager for a comprehensive and positive report.

 
6 INTEGRATING ADULT HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE IN DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY - UPDATE ON ACTIVITIES - REPORT BY CHIEF EXECUTIVE

6.1 NOTED the work underway through the Health and Social Care Integration (HSCI) Programme Board, particularly the mapping activity required to inform and populate the Body Corporate as the current preferred model, and that further update reports will be brought to the CHSCPB as shadow HSCP; and

 

6.2 AGREED to hold a workshop for Elected Members and NHS Board Members on the HSCI model, particularly looking at the development of the Body Corporate model; its implications for governance arrangements; and considering the position in other areas of Scotland.
