3 DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY CHAMBER OF ARTS (DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY UNLIMITED) - FOCUS ON STEWARTRY

Decision

 

3.1 AGREED to the format of the meeting as detailed at paragraph 3.16 of the report;

 

NOTED

 

3.2 the operation, aims and achievements to date of Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of the Arts (also known as DG Unlimited or DGU) and its current role in facilitating a sector-led approach to the planning, commissioning and monitoring of regional arts projects and services;

 

3.3 the work being undertaken at a local level by the Stewartry Area Arts Hub Convenor and by organisations supported to date through the work of DGU whose work has particular relevance to the Stewartry; and

 

3.4 the discussion, presentations and issues raised regarding Council funding provided to the Arts in the Stewartry and funding availability for Artists and the Arts in the Stewartry and FURTHER NOTED the community discussion and comments regarding the cultural capital and social return on investment in Arts within the Stewartry.

4 PUBLIC FORUM

Decision

 

4.1 NOTED the view presented that in addition to the link with Health and Wellbeing, the need for the Arts to link with Education; and

 

4.2 The Chairman THANKED the members of the community for their participation.  

5 ANY OTHER BUSINESS DEEMED URGENT BY THE CHAIRMAN DUE TO THE NEED FOR A DECISION

NOTED that there was no item of business deemed urgent by the Chairman due to the need for a decision.
