3 PRESENTATION BY SCOTTISH POLICE AUTHORITY

Members received a presentation from Brian Barbour, Scottish Police Authority (SPA) Lead Contact for Dumfries and Galloway.  The presentation and subsequent discussion considered matters including the structure of the SPA; areas of work carried out by the SPA; updates on Stop and Search and deployment of Firearms; accountability of the Chief Constable; use of Proceeds of Crime Monies and Charging Policy for local events.

3.2     the SPA Joint Agreement on Police Policy Engagement; and

 

3.3     THANKED Brian Barbour for his comprehensive presentation and commitment to work alongside the Police, Fire and Rescue Sub Committee.

4 POLICE SCOTLAND DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY LOCAL PLAN 2014-2017: NINE MONTH PERFORMANCE UPDATE - REPORT BY ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE

MEMBERS - Jack Groom and Grahame Forster left the meeting during consideration of this item - 7 Members present

 

Decision

 

4.1     SCRUTINISED the performance update information from Police Scotland, for Dumfries and Galloway, from 1 April 2014 - 31 December 2014;

 

NOTED

 

4.2     Police Scotland are in the process of consulting with the Council's area Committees in relation to finalising the Area Policing Plans;

 

4.3     the benefit of Community Police Officers attending Community Councils and the Local Divisional Commander would reaffirm the importance attached to this area of work; and

 

4.4     THANKED the Local Divisional Commander for his comprehensive presentation.

5 SCOTTISH FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY LOCAL PLAN 2014-2017: NINE MONTH PERFORMANCE UPDATE - REPORT BY ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE

5.2     THANKED the Local Senior Officer for his comprehensive presentation.
