4 NITH DISTRICT SALMON FISHERY BOARD - REPORT BY COMMUNITY PLANNING AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

MEMBERS - Ronnie Nicholson and Colin Smyth entered the meeting - 7 Members present

AGREED to receive a presentation from the Director of the Nith District Salmon Fishery Board on the Future of Fresh Water Fisheries Management in Dumfriesshire.

 
5 DUMFRIES COMMON GOOD FISHINGS REPORT - REPORT BY COMMUNITY PLANNING AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Decision

 

5.1       NOTED the significant decrease in the level of fishing ticket sales income generated for the 2016 season;

 

AGREED

 

5.2        that fishing ticket prices for 2017 are retained at 2013 levels;

 

5.3       to invite the Council's Assessors to present to a future meeting of this Committee the factors which can affect the rateable value of the river;

 

5.4       to support the efforts of the Nith District Salmon Fishery Board in taking forward challenges to the Scottish Government position; and

 

5.5       to consider an appropriate way of bringing together those impacted upon, as a result of the recent changes in categorisation of the river, to discuss the challenges.

6 NOTICEBOARD MIDSTEEPLE - REPORT BY COMMUNITY PLANNING AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

AGREED to utilise up to £1,500.00 to refurbish and reinstate the former noticeboard as a freestanding board in its previous position outside Midsteeple, High Street, Dumfries.

7 STONEY SMITH COMMEMORATION PROJECT - REPORT BY COMMUNITY PLANNING AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

NOTED

 

7.1       progress since January 2015 with plans to recognise and commemorate the work of Stoney Smith since the grant award;

 

 7.2      that the Community Planning and Engagement team is supporting Loreburn Community Council to ensure the project is completed in 2016.

 
8 DUMFRIES COMMON GOOD PROPOSED GRANT CRITERIA 2016/17 - REPORT BY COMMUNITY PLANNING AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

8.1       the criteria for Dumfries Common Good Fund for 2016/17 as detailed in the Appendix to the report; and

 

8.2       to receive a budget report to the next meeting providing a financial forecast for 2016/17.
